Autobiography of a Yogi, says, “…to the memory of Luther Burbank, an American saint.” This statement has astonished more than a few people, including Swami Kriyananda, who, upon first seeing it, considered it “preposterous” that materialistic America could produce a saint.
Who was this man, Luther Burbank? Why did Yogananda revere him so?
Most people today know little of Luther Burbank. Yet during his time his name was a household word. Not only did he demonstrate that plants could permanently assume new forms, and over dramatically shortened periods of time, but he also did it on a scale that no one has been able to match, before or since.. very interesting !
I live near the Luther Burbank experimental farm in Sebastopol, Ca. He greatly influenced the agriculture heritage of this region and several plant varieties he developed grow on the land I inhabit. Thankful for the fruits of his labor and appreciate plant breeders of all kinds.

Giving respect to the grow philosophy of Luther Burbank is a sign of great wisdom and now I know I’m in the right place here at Prempavee. He popularized the ancient wisdom of plant stress which creates plant alkaloids. All plants produce alkaloids as a survival strategy, but not all plants have psychoactive alkaloid effects like cannabis. There’s been a systematic, multilayered effort by “science” to emphasize only the effects of cannabinoids to the extent that most people are unaware that there’s never been any actual scientific head to head comparison of psychoactivity between cannabinoids and cannabis alkaloids. That’s a foundational lie of omission and it purposely changes everything we know about cannabis because cannabinoids and alkaloids are grown under opposite environmental pressures. Cannabinoids arise from flowers and require the “perfect leaf” stress free grow style we’ve all become accustomed to. Alkaloids require environmental stress and often poor or nutrient imbalanced anaerobic soil because alkaloids are a response to stress. Humans can benefit from these stress compounds because we co-evolved with plants. So, using Luther Burbank as representative of an ancient entirely different grow philosophy is a great idea because he explained his methods in ways the public can easily comprehend. -Ice Cold
