Editing the Category "Menu" together

Currently we have setted up the Categories between “countries” because the last edition of the 1st Ganja Cup was amongst nations.

We had participanting countries: Thailand - Japan - Mexico - USA and more “hidden way” French - Spain - Netherlands

About this forum here we have to issues about the division of categories:

1- the language. Because we are international we have participants from countries where they cannot talk english or other languages common with others. So sometimes I think to separate categories by spoken language istead of “nations”. What even are the nations.. aren’t we the One Nation?

2- The Origin and the Genetic. Sometimes I think tpo separate the categories from origin of cultivar. Especially for outdoors that is very relevant and aldso one of the goals of the 1st Ganja Cup: mapping the areas of origing of the Sungrow ganja worlwide. Now for example we have the categories “Thailand” or “USA” , but intead we can have “Emerald, Appalachian, Midwestern.. and so and so” and istead of Thailand : Southern, Central, Golden Triangle, lao…"

Than when we have topics with some genetics , for example Northen Light or Squirrel Tail the growers from different areas can share that variety knoledge about that specific area…

Just thinking … let’s talk about it if you feel

Funnily enough, I was just about to dm you asking a similar question. I like the idea of the country/region topics being designated for the origin of the genetics. Then perhaps having the individual cultivars as a subtopic.

I think the idea of separating the forum based on spoken language might serve to isolate members. Right now it can be difficult when you don’t understand someone else’s posts, but there are always tools for translations, and the app itself has the option for the community to add their own translations. In theory, as the community grows with more multi lingual individuals, more people will be able to translate for those that can’t understand. Which can, in turn, strengthen the feeling of community by helping each other out.

Yes . About the languages I think same of you but I see that for some is a barrier. I had report on problems to use English version both from Germany, Italy and Thailand. In particular Thai people they really struggle and is one reason we don’t have many participating

I love the “Areas of Origin” categories but for make that correctly we really need to talk about : what are those areas? How we can beging to make those categories?

The first division can be made from hemispheres and climate zones Tropical - Subtropical - Temperate …
